# Stuff You Should Know: Halloween Spooktacular
Josh and Chuck kick off their annual Halloween tradition by reading two creepy public domain short stories, starting with H.G. Wells' atmospheric "The Red Room," featuring a skeptical young man who spends the night in a haunted castle room guarded by three unsettling elderly caretakers. After they tackle Wells' tale of supernatural dread and the mysterious extinction of candles in darkness, they move on to J.D. Beresford's "The Missing Throat," a more mysterious and psychologically complex story about a visitor investigating a reclusive hermit living on a desolate island. It's the perfect spooky lineup filled with classic gothic atmosphere, growing dread, and those wonderful voice acting attempts that make this episode a fan favorite every year.
